At well over a century old Chalet Les Ardoisiers has stood the test of time. It is one of the original buildings in the Udrezants sector of Morzine - a quaint and picturesque hamlet at the entrance to the valley of the slate mines. The chalet has played host to many miners ("Ardoisiers") over the years with hundreds of people working in this industry and local slates adorning the roofs of most chalets.
The current owners have restored it to a high standard whilst respecting the architectural traditions of the area. As the owners of a sawmill they have also ensured that wood is a key feature of this 5 bedroom / 15 person property that oozes class. Spacious and yet cosy, traditional but elegant, this chalet has long been operated as a classic French Chambres D'Hotes and we are delighted to write the next chapter in its long history!

If you are looking for a perfectly symmetrical new-build ski chalet with flat pack furniture this is definitely not the one for you! Chalet Les Ardoisiers boasts a huge floor area of 400 square metres and is one of the largest properties in the sector. From its many balconies guests can admire the wide open slopes of Le Pleney or check out the conditions on the high slopes of Avoriaz. Given its location halfway between the two ski areas and the free ski bus that stops just a short walk from the door it is easy to access the very best skiing that the Portes du Soleil has to offer. If you have sufficient energy in the evening the bars of the old town of Morzine are just a 8 - 10 minute walk away.
Upon your return from skiing a practical side entrance gives direct access to the ski room and heated boot racks before you make your way through in to the spacious and comfortable lounge. With its log burning stove, big flatscreen TV and sumptuous sofas you may not make it any further! That said, the short walk through the charming entrance and hallway to the stunning open-plan dining room and farmhouse kitchen is worthwhile for homemade cake, speciality teas and coffees and access to the bar fridge! The chalet is well equipped from a relaxation point of view as, along with the natural space that is not always evident in newer properties, we have bluetooth sound systems in every room, an outdoor hot tub and a traditional indoor sauna.
The ground floor of the chalet is devoted almost entirely to communal spaces (including a handy baggage store and spare shower for departure day) whilst the five large ensuite bedrooms occupy the two floors above. Two separate staircases lead to the rooms, all of which have separate bath/shower rooms and WC for your comfort. All beds are full size singles and the generously sized rooms boast bespoke furniture, original features combined seamlessly with new additions and private balconies. Quad and triple rooms are great for families but also for groups of friends looking to keep costs down. Our 3rd and 4th bed discounts apply to people of all ages, not just children!
