Over the years we have skied many Austrian resorts but nothing beats Zell am See with all of the above and a beautiful lakeside setting. There is the guarantee of snow thanks to the nearby Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun, and as of 2019 the new link to the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski circus has opened up 450km of piste for those of us who like to clock up the miles.
The hotel itself is in the main pedestrian zone between the City Xpress cable car and the lakeside (both just a short walk away) and benefits from spacious stylish rooms, a rooftop bar, and a gorgeous winter garden lounge. The 4 course half board menu is nicely varied and focuses on fresh seasonal produce.
